Welcome visitors [14 Sep 2008|03:49pm]
Hi, come on in, pull up a chair, make yourself at home.
I wasn't expecting visitors, so I'm intrigued and would love to know how you happened upon this journal: I've not told anyone about it.

Please leave a note and let me know who you are and how you were lead here.

Also, if you know me in the real world, please leave me a comment. Comments are veiled to begin with, so if you do have a guess at who I am, it remains private. Ali

Yes, I went to so St Bedes Boys. I am not a boy, I've never been a boy. I was one of 31 girls admitted to a boys' school when there was no room for us in other appropriate girls' schools in the area. Long story.

Job interview [10 Oct 2005|03:18pm]
I had an unusual job interview today. Such lovely ladies doing the interviewing made me want the job. I went there with a heavy heart, I didn't think they were paying enough, the distance to travel each date was too far and it was a job I had never ever considered doing before. Anyway, I've been to their head office, I've seen what they do, seen how they treat their staff, read all the perks to the job, saw how sincere they were and have come away thinking how nice it would be to work for that company. I might even go for the next step.
It was unusual because an agency shortlited me for interview and today was clearly a "First impressions" type meeting. At the end of the "interviw" they gave me an application pack! I thought I had got past that stage...I'm left thinking that only those who they liked the look of would actually be given the pack...which could possible mean that I am through to round two already.
Who knows?! It was most unusual.

Please would someone reprimand me and tell me that I ought to tackle just one room at a time!

The whole house is upside down, in a state of , erm, in a state!

I bought a new stove yesterday, it's fab. I can't take delivery of it yet because I want to rip out some cupboards and lay a new floor in the kitechen.

I wish there was more than me interested in the future of this big old beautiful house.

Rowan came today. He only left home about a month ago, and it's amazing how different he now seems. I think it's more likely to be because I'm seeing him through different eyes.
Rowan is good company.

I made him and Liam a meal, then gave him a lift to work.

The weather has been piss-miserable today...rain rainrainrainrainrainrainrain

I've had a little Lj frenzy today. It was fun. I've joined lots of communities - all to do with design and decorating and getting my life in order.

I adore DIY - have bought nearly all the power tools you can think of, in fact I'm tempted to say that it is fast becoming a fetish.

I've been planning on moving house for the past 8 years, since my hub and I parted and in preparation I've bought boxes and boxes full of things. These things were all intended for a new place. I've got boxes full of new bedding, towels, every single item you may need for a kitchen (except the white goods) - other than a washing machine that I needed. I have lamps and rugs and ceiling lighting fixtures. I have a beautiful powder blue leather sofa and chair (with pouf) and lots of scatter cushions....and...and...oooodles of other things.
In readiness for sprucing up the house I've bought gallons of paint - paint for ceilings, walls, for kitchens or bathrooms, tile paint, wood and enamel paint. I've bought the brushes, trays, pads, brush cleaner, protective clothing.

Thing is I don't want to move house any more, I want to stay put, I have a lovely big house and it's very nearly paid for. I do have the troll in the attic - how cruel of me. My Ex and I never really competed the separation, he took on the top floor of the house and I more or less have the rest of it. The rest comprises a lounge, which measures probably about 16’ X 13½’; a Dining room that measures 12½’ X 13½’; a small sun room that measures 7’ X 13½’ and a kitchen that measures 15 X 8’7” at the widest point.

It's my time to decorate it just the way I want. I have a few items of furniture that I want to keep and a few items that I've bought especially.

I need to think of a scheme that pulls together rich dark oak furniture and powder blue leather. I think it's time to take some photographs and post the basic query in one of the communities I've joined - for just this type of support and advice.
Mmm I'm inspired!

This is my third journal and yes, I think I need three. I've enjoyed making the images. I'm going to do so much more photography. I love it and I won't have the worries of copyright infringement! This is a journal for me, I don't think I'll make friends.
